Interview of Sari Barel

I am an international expert in the development of creative thinking. My creative journey includes almost anything to do with writing, from copywriting to film writing and, of course, writing books; acting; painting and helping people in their life-journey as a coach, mediator and educator.

I am the author of the best-selling popular "TruthyRuthy" series of books for children and their parents. When I'm not writing, you might find me leading a creative-thinking and innovation workshop.

I co-authored the “Think Like a Zebra®” book series which introduces a unique method forescaping restrictive thinking patterns. In addition,

I hold an MEI - Master's degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (from ISEME, an extension of the University of Swinburne, Australia) in addition to a teaching degree.

1.       What do you write?

I write inspirational books for people of all ages. My books open the readers' minds to endless possibilities and alternatives in their journey through life.

2.       Why do you write?

I am passionate about changing the world, making it a better place for everyone.
The first step to reaching this goal is to give every individual the ability to change their own reality by themselves. That's why I write. To inspire people – young and old – to break restrictive thinking patterns.

3.       For whom do you write?

I write for those who are curious, who are open- minded,  who are explorers and adventurers – or those who are want to be explorers and adventurers. I write for people with a sense of humor. For people who are willing to taste something new, take a few risks and enjoy the ride.

4.       By whom are you inspired?
I am inspired by…
·         People who find ways to make the impossible possible
·         People who change the world
·         People who think differently
·         Wisdom gained through time on the planet
·         A child's endless ability to create
·         Animals in nature, and how they use their wisdom to survive and overcome hurdles
·         Anentrepreneur's ability to create something from nothing
·         An artist's ability to create something from nothing
·         The flexibility of the human brain
·         Passion
·         Enthusiasm
·         Curiosity
·         Failure
·         Opportunities
·         Alternatives
·         And more….

5 .You can share you current writing (any small story/poem) or Tell your future plansabout writing?
I plan to continue writing more titles for the "TruthyRuthy" series. The first book in the series, "TruthyRuthy" has been a consistent best seller on Amazon for several months. It is about a five year old child who doesn't always tell the truth. Her family doesn't know what to do until her father comes up with a brilliant idea: He changes the rules of the game. Though his idea was somewhat unconventional, it worked. And, according to the feedback that I received from parents (and their children), it was an idea that worked in real life, too. In fact, parents have reported that children understood the idea on their own, and that the book has made a real change in their families – and even in their lives.
The second book in the series is "TruthyRuthy's Birthday Surprise" – an interactive book with three possible endings to the same story. "TruthyRuthy'sSecret Language" is the next book in the series. In this book, TruthyRuthywill use her special brand of humor, respect and creative thinking to turn off the tears.

Each "TruthyRuthy"book includes a different surprise!

In addition to the "TruthyRuthy"series, which is directed primarily at young children and their parents, I have also written and co-authored books about creative thinking and problem solving for adults, the most popular being "Think Like a Zebra." I am currently working on additional books in this area. Business managers, marketers, life coaches, presenters, lecturers and parents… everyone will learn how to find unconventional solutions to conventional problems.

6. Give five pieces of advice to a new writer?

Even though I don't think that new writers really need advice, I will give two important tips:
1.       Find your own voice. You don't have to do what others have done.
2.  Learn about marketing.  If you really want to have others read what you've written, they have to know that it exists. Learn how to market your writing.

7. Give five pieces of adviceto a reader?

When reading my books, be an active reader. A passive reader will enjoy the story that is being told. An active reader will be inspired by what they have read, using its message as they find their own way to achieve their goals.

Take advantage of the free gift that I give with every book. The gifts can be used over and over again.
