I write simply because I love to tell stories-Angelique LaFontaine

Small introduction of yourself: …………………………

Angelique LaFontaine
Angelique LaFontaine

My name Angelique LaFontaine. I was born in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. I'm 33 years old and currently live in Dallas, TX. I am employed as a Mechanical Engineer but spend much of my time painting and writing I have been building my work collection for the last 15 years and it includes paintings, sketches, poetry compilations, novels, digital short stories and much more.

I do not limit my writing to one specific genre but I tend to lean more toward fiction fantasy. I love the idea of not having boundaries when writing. If you can think it, in my story, it could happen. In 2008, I released my first poetry compilation. This collection was entitled Walking Before You Run. It is a collection of 75 poems that I've written over the years. In 2010, I released Sandstone and Mirrors: The Crossover. I have many more books and short stories that I am preparing to release.

Besides writing, I love to paint and sketch. I enjoy working with acrylic mainly but from time to time, work with other mediums. Currently my work is being displayed in the Little Elm Library in Little Elm TX. It has been rotated throughout different locations in the Dallas area.

1.       What you write?

I write just about everything, except romance.  I only write fiction but they range from drama,to suspense, fantasy and adventure to mystery.  I love writing them all.

                 2.Why you write?

I write simply because I love to tell stories.  I remember being a child and discovering that “cozy” feeling when I would be nestled up with a good mystery, or discovering that wonderful fear while reading a good suspense or horror story.  I attributed those feelings to whatever it is that people would attribute to “comfort food”…it gives a feeling of comfort and solace.  I write to create those same feelings for myself and others, hoping that through my stories, somebody would find that “cozy” feeling

3.   For whom you write?

As far as audience, I write for just about every age group except children.  I think that young adults as well as adults do not have a dissimilar interest, taste, or comprehension.  They all want to be entertained and moved by a story.

4.   By whom you inspired?

My inspiration came from anybody that was able to captivate an audience via movie or book   through nothing more than their imagination and ability to create a character, scene, or event. My earliest book collection mainly consisted of Stephen King novels. Whilst being a   mainstream writer, nobody can deny his ability to thoroughly describe what he is writing about.

The scenes, the characters, the events, all of which written with such intense detail that the reader couldn’t help but get emotionally involved with the character.  All you had to do was close your eyes and there you were; the perfect visual that ensnared all senses.  I would honestly have to say I was inspired by his literature.  When I decided to start writing, it was because I wanted to have the same effect on my readers and he did on me.

5.      You can Share you current writing (Any small Story/Poem) or Tell your Future plan About writing?

What is my future plan for writing?  It’s to continue to write.  Yes, I would love to see my books reach as many readers as possible.  Yes, I would love to see a movie producer say, “Wow!  That would make a damn good movie.” But honestly, that’s not why I do it.  Like I said, I write because I love to tell stories.

  1. This was a "cozy" reading. I do write to express my feelings or show the way I think in a specific subject. Also is easier for me write than talking or give a presentation.
