Awkward Moments
You probably look at childhood and think that it is great, that you would love to be that young again so that you can be free of all the responsibilities and problems that being an adult had brought to your life.In reality though, the reason you wanted to be grow up quickly when you were small is that there is much of early life where you are situated in a kind-of no man’s land. This stage often occurs from the end of the toddler years, where you are usually showered with attention and always have something to do, right up until you become a teenager, when you start to enjoy a small degree of independence, although undoubtedly still angry at the fact that you aren’t yet an adult.
How can parents help their children to get through these awkward years happily, so that they can look back with fond memories when they are older.
Age Appropriate Toys
One of the easiest things to do is to buy age appropriate toys, things that will engage a child and encourage them to learn to become more independent and get them using up a lot of time. This can often be critical even through toddler years, when parents may begin to both return to work full-time and children can find themselves somewhat alone and even perhaps a little alienated for the first time in their lives.Even innocuous things such as going to school can seem to be a big deal, so having engaging, and age appropriate toys whatever age your child is one easy way to put them at ease.
Continue to Spend Time With Them This isn’t something that parents should be hard on themselves about, but as children begin to get older we naturally tend to spend less and less time with them. Making this adjustment can be difficult for the child, especially if you have returned to work as alluded to earlier, and your child maybe only sees you in the morning because the child minder or family friend is looking after them at bedtime. Even if it’s just at the weekends, continue to ensure you spend quality time with your children as they get older.
Enrol Them in Clubs
If you want to make a child happy, the easiest way is often to get them to interact with other children of the same age and interests. Whether your child joins dance class, karate club, or something simple that takes place after school, you will be helping to engage them more with growing up and encouraging their early social development.A Girl for All Time provides award-winning, age appropriate toddler girl toys, such as dolls, novels, and keepsake books filled with fun ideas and activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
