It is the last blog chain of the year 2010 and dribble drabble, what a great way to wind up the year. AuburnAssassin came up with the grand idea of a short story that is twenty five words or less. I think that this is a fun exercise because it forces us writers to think on our feet. Additionally, I believe this kind of exercise can effectively eliminate the writer's greatest enemy--writers block.
So I present you with my dribble drabble.
The little elf climbs up the large, oak tree to obtain the golden egg on top. But, on his way up, he slips and falls.
And that is all folks. Please feel free to read the other stories from the other blog chain participants.

To be Maria is now complete.
Here is a little Teaser:
Anya leaves her journal then walks over to one of the open cupboards. As predicted, it is empty save one box of Macaroni and Cheese and a package of Mr. Noodles. Anya shuts the door then peers into the next cupboard. All that remains in there is a box of Cheerios. She grabs the box, realizing that it is more than half-empty but thinking that it should be enough to satisfy her until lunch.

Cute and with a holiday theme no less.
ReplyDeleteIt feels like a nursery rhyme that's slipped from my memory.
ReplyDeletepoor little guy...lol
ReplyDeletePoor little elf. I think that golden egg was meant to be MY Christmas present!
ReplyDelete(Jack and Jill, Hillary?)
Cute and tragic at the same time! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like a nursery rhyme! Sweet...poor little elf!
ReplyDeleteOh dear...writing can be a slippery slope, as elves soon learn.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I sincerely hope Santa is especially good to the little elf this Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to echo the tragic sentiments of others. The cuteness (I imagine the old claymation Christmas specials) can only mask so much -- haha. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you, everingoodstead. You have a strong point.
ReplyDeleteGracious! Moral of the story? Make your cookies in a factory! ;)
ReplyDeleteSeasonally appropriate! But it seems that the elf will be unable to compete further in the Triwizard Cup without the golden egg...!
ReplyDeleteI keep waiting for the next line. Very holidayish. I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThose darn golden eggs are always in the most inconvenient places. Poor wee elf.
ReplyDeleteThanks jelyzabeth. Dianedooley, I would tend to agree with you.
ReplyDeleteSo cute, but poor lil elfie :(
